Mardi Jones started MJ Accounting in May 2011 and is the Managing Director. Mardi has over 18 years' of accounting experience across a broad range of industries and individuals. She has a wealth of knowledge and skills gained over this time, advising on accounting, bookkeeping and taxation. Mardi's professional credentials include Bachelor of Accounting and CPA. Mardi is a registered BAS Agent and Tax Agent with the Tax Practitioner Board.
Through her highly developed analytical skills Mardi is able to bring a unique insight into the needs of a company's bookkeeping and accounting requirements. Under Mardi's leadership MJ Accounting is focused on continuing to deliver a high quality of service and expertise in all areas of Bookkeeping, Accounting & Taxation services.
John Templeton is a financial advisor, currently an Authorised Representative with Synchronised Business Services Pty Ltd. John began his career in 1983 and is well established as a Risk Insurer adviser. John is well respected in the financial services industry and has built strong professional relationships with various life offices over the last 30 years. We are pleased with this new valuable addition to our team where we can draw on his wealth of knowledge and experience and ensure that our clients' needs are well supported. John specialises in superannuation and insurances – Life, Income Protection, Critical Illness and TPD.
Reece joined the MJ Accounting team in February 2015. He has been in the tax and accounting industry since 2010. Reece's professional credentials include a Bachelor of Accounting with a joint study in Marketing from Charles Sturt University. He also has Certificate III in Financial Services from Albury Tafe. Reece is experienced in cloud accounting software such as Xero and QuickBooks Online, in which he is a certified advisor for both programs. He is also very experienced to use your standard software such as MYOB and Reckon. Reece has extensive knowledge of tax and accounting as he has spent many years in the Australian Taxation Office and also public accounting practices.
Erin joined MJ Accounting in December 2016. Erin has worked in the accounting industry since 2011, and also for one year in financial services regulation in London for the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority. She completed a Bachelor of Business majoring in Accounting with Charles Sturt University in 2012, and is currently part way through her CPA Program studies. Erin is experienced with MYOB and is Xero Certified. Erin’s experience has given her strengths in Accounts Payable, reconciliations, cashflow and budgeting.
Jessica has been working in administration since 2013. During this time, she has developed a keen interest in bookkeeping due to the data entry tasks she
has taken on. She has experience completing data entry and payroll in MYOB and Reckon and is currently studying a Certificate IV in Accounting.
Jessica is our Brisbane office assistant and accounts administrator. She is here to support and assist with all questions and concerns and support our
team and clients.
Jess started as a receptionist in a civil construction company where she was mentored till she was competent in handling all accounts payable, from there
it was included to accounts receivable which she continued to do for several years. Her mentor organized for her to complete a bookkeeping course which
she jumped at, having always loved numbers! Jess has been a qualified bookkeeper since 2014 but was also managing bookkeeping for the company she
worked for 3 years prior. She has completed a Certificate IV in Booking and Business Administration and is currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Accounting.
An accounting/bookkeeping professional, I have a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) and worked in a variety of private and public sector positions including the allied health industry, building management industry, Telstra, and a start-up company in the retreat and spa industry. My area of specialty is accounting and bookkeeping, office administration and financial reporting.
Sharon's experience and knowledge across all facets of bookkeeping and accounting is second to none as she has over 15 years experience in the profession. As well as performing the bookkeeping role in her previous positions, she is also experienced in:
Sharon is also very experienced in the use of MYOB and has gained a very high working knowledge of this program. She has an Advanced Diploma in Accounting from Newcastle TAFE as well as a Secretarial Certificate. Sharon is a registered BAS Agent with the Tax Practitioners Board.
The spread of client base across industries and the challenges and responsibilities that come with this is why Sharon enjoys working with us.
Sue's early work career was in the banking sector having worked in the UK and Australia in this field. She has also worked for the British Trade Commission in New York but it was the establishment and successful financial management of her family owned Pest Control business in New South Wales where her bookkeeping prowess blossomed. She soon became well known for her financial skills and was helping other businesses and non-profit organizations to setup and maintain healthy bookkeeping practices.
Through the 90's Sue developed many and varied skills in all types of electronic bookkeeping to meet the demands of her clients. This lead to Sue obtaining a specialist qualification and accreditation with QuickBooks through Intuit. As an accredited QuickBooks Trainer Sue helped many small businesses make the transition into the era of GST bookkeeping. Sue comes with a wealth of know and is a registered BAS Agent with the Tax Practitioners Board.
2005 saw Sue receiving the QuickBooks Accredited Partner status (Bookkeeping) with Intuit, and her strengths continued to multiply. In her own words her self-developed specialty is now what she terms "Creating order out of Chaos" bringing outdated backlogs of work into a systematic and up to date methodology.
Fiona Smith has 22 years of experience in commercial accounting and bookkeeping she provides a wide range of services. Including AP/AR, Payroll, reconciliations, monthly report and liaising with accountants.She has a Bachelor of Commerce and specialises in Reckon, MYOB and Xero.Fiona is well organised, professional and reliable.
Simon joined the team in May 2017. Prior to bookkeeping Simon worked as an IT Quality Assurance Analyst consultant in various industries including
superannuation, insurance, finance and government. Qualifications include a Bachelor of Small Business & Entrepreneurship and currently working towards completing a Certificate IV in Bookkeeping. Simon is experienced in MYOB and Xero and is quick to adapt to any client's systems. Simon is passionate about quality assurance and applying it to all aspects including financial reporting, AP/AR, reconciliations, BAS and tax returns.
Ingrid has been a bookkeeper for over 30 years, is a registered BAS Agent, has a Certificate IV in Financial Services (Bookkeeping) and has partially completed a course in Bachelor of Accounting.Ingrid has a long history of bookkeeping and office practices in the Building and Construction industry. She also has experience in retail, pharmacy, automotive and various other small-medium businesses.
Julia is an ex ATO officer. Julia has 35 years management and hands on experience in income tax and superannuation guarantee compliance. She has also been a small business owner. As well as provided free book work using MYOB to both sons for trade businesses at various stages of their careers. Julia has a Certificate in Superannuation Principles and Practices (ASFA), Cert IV Small business Management. Julia is currently working as an admin assistant and ATO liaison for MJ Accounting. Principally actioning ATO mail items and negotiating payment arrangements for clients.
Tracy has always had an interest in accounting and bookkeeping. She spent 2 years working in an administration role for a local accounting and finance firm. Tracy went straight into working in administration (11 years at different levels), followed by working in Tenancy Management (11 years experience). Tracy enjoys new challenges and has always had a keen yearning to learn to better her knowledge and skills base. As a Mum and a wife, spare time is rare. She enjoys spending time with my family and the occasional night out with friends and when she can she loves a bit of reading, and gardening.
Marianne joined the team in August 2017 and has been a bookkeeper for over 20yrs. She started freelance bookkeeping to be able to work hours to suit her family and kids sporting commitments. She has completed her Diploma in Accounting and is a registered BAS agent. Marianne enjoys bookkeeping because she like the challenge of making things balance. Marianne’s passion is working with small business owners to help them have a better understanding of how their business is performing. Her specialty is debt collection and reconciliations. Outside of work Marianne enjoys spending time with her family and competitive lawn bowls.
Helen has over 20 years' experience in administration and reception work, mainly in the health industry. For the last 4 years Helen has been responsible for handling the administration and general running of the Melbourne office.
